We're not actually sure when we met. Tim has been at JPL for 10 years, Emily for 7. We were at the same event in 2001, and Emily is sure she saw Tim on a local hiking trail a few years later and thought "oooh, he's cute!". Around Fall of 2005, Tim starting making an effort to catch Emily’s eye in the cafeteria at work. When ever he saw her, he’d say Hi. In the Spring of 2006, Emily finally got around to asking her friends about Tim. The response was “Oh, he’s got a serious girlfriend, I think they’re moving in together”, to which Emily said “#$%!”. However, that was not meant to be. In April 2006, Tim and Emily both attended JPL’s Magic Mountain night (at a local Six Flags Amusement Park). They chatted in line together, flirted a bit, and discovered that they both loved hiking and camping. It was then that Tim unknowingly became the co-planner for Emily’s Grand Canyon Trip. Emily planned several training hike in preparation for the Grand Canyon trip. Tim was the only one who went on every single one. On the Twin Peaks-East hike, Tim asked Emily out on their very first date. They went to an Ethiopian restaurant on Tim’s Birthday, June 27, 2006.
